"...the United States has the lowest turnout of any industrial nation (talking about voting)...the main reason is that Democratic and Republican candidates have little or nothing to say to tens of millions...mostly the poor, working people, and youth. Both major parties, dominated by wealthy individuals and corporate interests, are deeply out of touch with these citizens.
The two major parties not only fail to provide solutions to the problems of society but, in many cases, don't even discuss the issues. Given the level of current debate, the interesting thing is not why half of the people don't vote, but why half of the people do.
The richest 1 percent...now owns more than half of the nation's wealth. While we had a doubling of billionaires (recently), close to three million Americans now sleep out on the streets".
As of this date, Senator Sanders of the state of Vermont was recently re-elected a second term in the US Senate and some people think he should run for President in 2016.
